In the beginning…

creationWelcome to! We look forward to providing a forum for Catholics of all stripes to take their rightful place in the Body of Christ, strengthen it with their presence, enrich it with their participation, and embolden it with the courage of their convictions. We promise to work hard to represent ourselves honestly and faithfully, and we hope that you will join in the conversation.

Our mission is simple: We are committed to providing a voice for the diversity within the Mystical Body of Christ, with respect, for the betterment of the Church.

For too long, Church “representatives” have monopolized the microphone, sharing their talking points with the world at large, and doing a poor job of representing the majority of us for whom Catholicism is just as much our home as are our physical houses and bodies. We have sat and silently observed as pundits and priests have become media celebrities, engaging their audiences with “facts” that don’t ring true to the rest of us. At some point, the rest of us must give ourselves permission to be heard. For the majority of us, we do not spend our every waking minute thinking about contraception, abortion, gay marriage, or priestly sex scandals. And yet, it is with these issues that the world at large is “informed” about who we are, and which define our existence as Catholics.

The time to give ourselves permission to be heard is now. It is time to lift our eyes and our voices. It is time to walk confidently into the future, with our heads held high, and our dignity intact. We, too, are the Catholic Church. We, too, are the Mystical Body of Christ. We belong. Here, we too are home.

It is our great hope that you will enjoy our presence on the internet, and we hope to connect with you through this blog, as well as on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Like us. Friend us. Engage with us. Your opinion matters.

We hope that you will take the time to review our “About” and “Terms & Conditions” pages. We want to make sure that all visitors feel welcome and comfortable expressing themselves. Feel free to check out our “Contributors” page also, and learn a bit about who we are. Our contributors are excited to begin sharing with you, and hope that you, too, will be bold enough to share, both publicly with your comments on specific posts, as well as privately through our “Contact” link.

So without further ado, it is our pleasure to present to you

Welcome home.

  1. On NPR I recently heard a survey of religious attitudes in America. They found 30% are Conservative, and 20% are Progressive, some odd majority percentage was Moderate. These folks self-identified as such. Here is the interesting part; of the Progressives, the majority identified as Roman Catholics.

I think there are a bunch of us out here in ‘majority land’ that will be glad to see this new website started up.

I’m passing the word on to my fellows.

    Thanks for doing this work.

    • Thanks for checking us out, Andrew! And thanks for the statistics. Interesting, isn’t it?
