Who We Are: We are men and women of conscience who value the contributions of the Catholic Church, identify as Roman Catholics, and who wish to offer an alternative to the viewpoints espoused by the vocal minority of Catholics whose “expertise” is often sought after by the media. Catholic Majority seeks to bring an honest and nuanced voice to the table and provide an alternative narrative that represents Catholicism to the public and to the world. We believe that the majority of Catholics value diversity, and that the voice of the Catholic majority deserves to be heard as much as that of the minority.
Our Mission: We are committed to providing a voice for the diversity within the Mystical Body of Christ, with respect, for the betterment of the Church.
Our Vision: We contribute to the unity of Christ’s Body by embracing diversity in accordance with the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 791, which states: “The body’s unity does not do away with the diversity of its members…[It] produces and stimulates charity among the faithful…[and] triumphs over all human divisions.”
Our Values: We believe, along with the Catechism, that “conscience is man’s most secret core, and his sanctuary. There he is alone with God whose voice echoes in his depths” (section 1795). Accordingly, we agree with section 1789, that: “Some rules apply in every case: One must never do evil so that good may result from it; the Golden Rule: ‘Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them’; [and] charity always proceeds by way of respect for one’s neighbor and his conscience: ‘Thus sinning against your brethren and wounding their conscience…you sin against Christ.’ Therefore ‘it is right not to…do anything that makes your brother stumble.'”
